The Yashica J-7 is a fully mechanical camera. This means it does not require batteries to operate the shutter.
It uses M42 screw mount lenses.
The Yashica J-7 is a true full-mechanical SLR released in 1966. It's the precursor to the better-known Yashica TL-Super and shares most of its features: M42 mount, 1/1000s shutter speed and a great ease of use. Unlike the TL-Super, the J-7 doesn't offer TTL (through-the-lens) light metering, but has a metering 'eye' on the front of the body instead. Requires a PX625 battery to work.
We love the J-7 for their simplicity, reliability and how repairable they are when damaged. They are a great system for beginners, as good M42 lenses are easy to find and quite affordable.
