Pentax SP1000 35mm SLR film camera with 55mm f2 lens
Description:
The SP1000 is part of the legendary Pentax Spotmatic family, introduced in 1973 as a stripped-back, fully mechanical version of the original Spotmatic. What I like about it is the combination of simplicity and quality. The shutter is entirely mechanical and will work at any speed regardless of battery condition, and the M42 screw mount is one of the most versatile lens fittings in film photography, compatible with Takumar lenses from Pentax as well as glass from Carl Zeiss, Meyer-Optik, and dozens of other makers. The 55mm f/2 Takumar lens fitted here is sharp, renders beautifully, and benefits from Super Multi Coating on later versions. The stop-down TTL metering system requires you to stop the aperture down before reading the light, which teaches you a lot about how exposure works. A solid, honest, all-metal camera that is essentially indestructible and a great way to learn manual film photography properly.
Specs:

Due to the age of this camera and the nature of old light meters we can’t guarantee that the light meter still works. This isn’t an issue as the camera will function perfectly without batteries. To meter a scene before taking a picture we recommend using an external light meter or for you to take our online course that will teach you how to use a film camera without the use of any external tools.
