Description:
The A-1 sits at the top of Canon's A-series and it shows. Introduced in 1978, it was the world's first SLR to offer a fully programmed automatic exposure mode, where the camera selects both shutter speed and aperture without any input from you, a feature so significant that virtually every camera made since has included it. But the A-1 is far more than a historical footnote. Aperture priority, shutter priority, and full manual are all there alongside programme, giving you more creative control in a single body than most cameras of its era could offer. The viewfinder LED display is clear and quick to read, depth of field preview is included, and the Canon FD mount gives access to a wide and excellent range of lenses. Paired with the 50mm f1.8, one of Canon's finest standard lenses, it is a very capable and satisfying combination.
