In programme mode the camera sets both shutter speed and aperture for you, shutter priority lets you choose the speed, and full manual gives you complete control. All three are useful, depending on what you are shooting. The Canon FD mount works with a wide range of excellent and affordable lenses, and the 35mm f2.8 is a sharp, compact wide angle that suits street, travel and architecture.
