The Autoboy Tele is one of the more interesting point and shoots Canon made, and the dual prime lens system is the reason. Rather than a zoom, it has two completely separate fixed lenses: a 40mm f/2.8 for everyday wide-angle shooting and a 70mm f/4.9 telephoto for portraits and closer framing, switched instantly with a lever on the back. Prime lenses in a point and shoot is an unusual setup, and it shows in the image quality: both focal lengths are notably sharp and characterful compared to the typical zoom compact. The viewfinder automatically adjusts magnification when you switch between lenses. There's also a built-in soft-focus filter activated via the lens cover switch, multiple exposure capability, and backlight compensation. The 40mm f/2.8 performs well in lower light and gives a natural, unforced field of view, while the 70mm is an ideal portrait length.
