We like the Prima Super 115u for fitting a very capable 3x zoom into one of the most compact bodies Canon ever made for a camera of this range. Released in 2003, the body measures just 107x59x42mm and weighs 195g without the battery, which is genuinely impressive for a camera with a 38-115mm aspherical zoom lens. The aspherical element corrects for spherical aberration across the full zoom range, keeping images sharp at 38mm for groups and street scenes and at 115mm for portraits or distant subjects. The 5-point Dual AiAF autofocus is accurate and handles off-centre subjects well, there's a close-up mode with a minimum focus of just 45cm, and exposure compensation of plus or minus 1.5 stops gives you a little creative control when you need it. The aluminium-coated front panel and lilac metallic band give it a distinctive, well-finished look that stands out from the crowd. A very well-made, pocketable late-era compact that delivers excellent results.
