We like the 35-EE II for being the more capable and refined follow-up to the popular Chinon 35EE. Where the original used a needle display and programmed auto exposure, the EE-II moves to aperture priority, letting you choose the aperture yourself while the camera selects the shutter speed automatically. Three LED indicators in the viewfinder signal correct, over, and underexposure clearly and quickly. The 38mm f2.7 Chinonex lens is sharp and well suited to everyday shooting, street photography, and travel, and the coupled rangefinder gives you precise focusing. There's a self-timer, a hot shoe for flash, and the whole camera is compact and comfortable in the hand. A small but meaningful step up from its predecessor and a very enjoyable everyday rangefinder.
