We like the DL-300 for being one of the more underrated compacts of its era. Released in 1986, it carries a sharp 35mm f2.8 Fujinon lens in a slim, well-made body, and benefits from Fuji's drop-in film loading system, which makes loading a roll quick and almost impossible to get wrong. The autofocus is reliable, exposure is fully automatic, and the built-in flash with fill and off options gives you a bit more control than most cameras at this level. A large LCD panel shows eight camera functions at a glance. The camera pre-winds the film on loading and rewinds it frame by frame as you shoot, meaning already-exposed frames are always protected inside the cartridge. A practical, dependable everyday compact that produces very good results.
