We like the GEr for being a compact, well-made, and very easy rangefinder that does its job quietly and without fuss. Introduced in the 1970s, it is one of the more pocketable coupled rangefinders of its era, comfortably fitting in a jacket pocket while still offering a proper coincident-image rangefinder for accurate focusing. The 38mm f2.8 Fujinon lens sits between a standard and a wide angle, giving a versatile field of view that suits street photography, travel, and everyday life. Exposure is fully automatic via the CdS meter, which controls a Seiko electronic shutter with an impressively wide range from 2 seconds down to 1/800s. For flash, an exposure lock on a half press of the shutter and a guide number selector ring make it straightforward to use. A reliable, unfussy, and enjoyable everyday rangefinder.
