What I like about the Kodak AF2 is its simplicity and the fact that it actually has a decent lens for such an accessible camera. The Kodak Ekton 35mm f/2.8 is faster than most basic point and shoots of the same era, which makes a real difference in lower light. The camera is fully automatic: it reads the film ISO via DX coding, focuses automatically, sets the exposure, and winds and rewinds the film by motor. The built-in flash includes a fill-in mode for daylight situations, and there is a self-timer for group shots. The lens cover opens by sliding the flash unit to the side, which is a clever little design detail. Straightforward, no-fuss, and easy to hand to anyone who has never used a film camera before.
