The 35mm lens is sharp and renders well, the infrared autofocus is reliable with a focus lock available via a half-press, and a close-up mode brings the minimum focusing distance down to just 35cm, which is impressively close for a compact of this era. The 1/500s maximum shutter speed is notably fast for a camera in this class. Automatic lens cover, DX coding up to ISO 3200, mid-roll rewind, and a simple flash mode button on the back keep the operation clean and uncluttered.
