The Mamiya M645 1000S is one of the most capable and well-built medium format cameras you can buy at this price point, and the 80mm f/2.8 Mamiya-Sekor C lens that comes with it is widely regarded as one of the sharpest standard lenses ever made for the format. The 6x4.5cm negatives it produces on 120 film are nearly three times the size of a 35mm frame, bringing a level of detail, tonal smoothness, and depth to images that is simply not achievable with 35mm. The all-metal construction feels serious and precise in the hand, the electronically controlled shutter runs from 8 seconds to 1/1000s, and the interchangeable viewfinder system means you can add a waist-level finder or a metered AE prism to suit how you like to shoot. The 80mm lens is equivalent to roughly 50mm in 35mm terms, giving you a natural, versatile field of view that works beautifully for portraits, travel, and documentary work.
