It sits just below the more well known X-700 in Minolta's X series lineup, and while it drops the fully automatic programme mode, it adds something arguably more useful in its place: a match LED metering system in the viewfinder that shows you both the shutter speed you've set and the speed the camera recommends, side by side. That makes shooting in manual genuinely intuitive and a great way to learn exposure properly. Aperture priority is there for when you want the camera to handle things, and the 50mm f/1.7 Rokkor lens is a lovely, sharp optic that works beautifully for portraits, street, and everyday photography. It's a solid metal body, light enough to carry all day, and the whole SR-mount system means there's a wide range of Minolta lenses available to grow your kit over time.
