We have a lot of time for the XG-M. It was the top model in Minolta's XG series and introduced the body design that would go on to form the basis of the celebrated X-700, one of the most loved manual focus SLRs ever made. It gives you aperture priority for relaxed shooting, and a full manual mode where the viewfinder LED display shows you both the metered and your chosen shutter speed simultaneously, which makes learning exposure very intuitive. Paired with a 50mm f2 lens it's a classic, well-balanced combination. That focal length gives you a natural, true-to-life perspective, and f2 is fast enough to shoot comfortably in low light and produce a pleasing background blur for portraits. The Minolta MD mount opens up a wide range of excellent lenses. A solid, dependable camera that's a real pleasure to shoot with.
