The L35 AF3 is the third and final version of Nikon's L35 series, and it carries all the qualities that made the original Pikaichi such a well-regarded camera. The 35mm f/2.8 Nikkor lens is fast, sharp, and capable in low light in a way that most point and shoots simply aren't, and the autofocus system is reliable and accurate with a viewfinder display that shows the focus distance as you shoot, which is an unusual and useful feature for a compact camera. Everything is automatic, focus, exposure, film advance and rewind, and the flash syncs at all shutter speeds, which makes it genuinely useful for fill flash in daylight rather than just low-light snapshots. The all-metal chassis feels solid in the hand, and it runs on standard AA batteries with impressive efficiency. A camera with a well-earned reputation that holds up completely today.
