We like the One Touch Zoom 90S for being a light, well-made Nikon compact that covers a very practical zoom range without making things complicated. Released in 2002, it is a refined version of the original One Touch Zoom 90 and carries a 6-element Nikon zoom lens from 38mm for wide group shots to 90mm for comfortable portrait framing. The real-image viewfinder zooms with the lens, and a diopter adjustment makes it comfortable for glasses wearers. Macro mode focuses as close as 30cm for detail shots, and five flash modes cover most situations including slow sync for night portraits and red-eye reduction. At just 215g without battery, it slips easily into a jacket pocket. A dependable, lightweight everyday compact from a brand with a serious optical reputation.
