Description
The Mju I is the camera that set the template for what a compact point and shoot could be. When it came out in 1991 it was one of the smallest and lightest cameras available, and it still impresses today. The clamshell body protects the lens without any cap or case needed, and the sliding cover opens the camera and activates it in one motion. The 35mm f/3.5 Zuiko lens is sharp and well-corrected, delivering results that punch well above the price of the camera on the second-hand market. The aperture priority-like system reads available light and adjusts exposure automatically, and the built-in flash with multiple modes handles low light without any fuss. At around 135g it's genuinely pocketable, and its clean, minimal design has aged better than almost any other compact from the same era. A great first film camera and an excellent daily carry for anyone who shoots casually.
