Olympus OM-1 35mm SLR Film Camera with 50mm f1.8 Lens
Description:
The OM-1 is one of the most admired film cameras ever made, and it earned that reputation by doing something the camera industry had never quite managed before. Released in 1972, it was the world's smallest and lightest 35mm SLR at the time, designed by Yoshihisa Maitani, the same engineer behind the iconic Olympus Pen. In an era when SLRs were growing larger and heavier, the OM-1 went the other way entirely, offering a fully mechanical, professional-grade body that fit comfortably in one hand. The fully mechanical shutter works perfectly without any battery, the viewfinder is exceptionally bright and large with a 0.92x magnification that remains impressive by any standard, and small design touches like the shutter speed ring positioned around the lens mount and the built-in mirror lock-up show the care and intelligence that went into the design. The Olympus OM mount has access to a superb range of Zuiko lenses, and the 50mm f1.8 included here is the classic pairing for this body. Sharp, compact, and beautifully made.

Due to the age of this camera and the nature of old light meters we can't guarantee that the light meter still works. This isn't an issue as the camera will function perfectly without batteries. To meter a scene before taking a picture we recommend using an external light-meter or for you to take our online course that will teach you how to use a film camera without the use of any external tools.
