We like the Pen EE for being the camera that proved a simple, battery-free point and shoot could be genuinely joyful to use. Introduced in 1961, it was one of the first fully automatic compact cameras ever made, using a selenium cell around the lens to power the exposure system without any battery at all. As a half-frame camera it shoots 72 exposures from a standard 36-exposure roll, all in portrait orientation. The fixed focus 28mm f3.5 D.Zuiko lens keeps everything sharp from about 1.8m to infinity without any adjustment, and the two-speed automatic shutter handles the rest. A red flag in the viewfinder locks the shutter if there is not enough light, so you never waste a frame. A small, honest, and completely self-sufficient camera that is still a pleasure to pick up and shoot today.
