The Espio 60S is a light, well-made compact that fits comfortably in a shirt pocket and handles everyday photography with very little fuss. The 35-60mm lens is an interesting one: rather than a continuous zoom, it steps between four fixed focal lengths at 35, 45, 50, and 60mm, which makes it quick to shift between a wide shot and a tighter frame. At 35mm you have plenty of room for groups and street scenes, and at 60mm it gives a natural portrait length. At just 174g it's one of the lighter zoom compacts around, and the infrared autofocus is responsive and reliable. The flash offers four modes including red-eye reduction, and the whole camera runs on standard AA batteries which makes it easy to keep going anywhere in the world.
