Pentax Spotmatic SP II 35mm SLR film camera with 55mm f2 lens
Description:
The Spotmatic is one of those cameras that defined an era. Released in 1971 as a refinement of the original 1964 Spotmatic, the SP II added a hot shoe and an extended ISO range while keeping everything else that made the original so well-regarded. It is fully mechanical, built to last, and a genuine pleasure to use. The M42 screw mount gives you access to a huge range of lenses from Pentax and many other manufacturers, and the Takumar lenses that came with these cameras are considered some of the finest optics ever put on a 35mm SLR. The 55mm f/2 is a fast, sharp standard lens that covers everyday shooting, portraits, and low light with ease. Everything is manual here, which makes it a brilliant camera for learning the fundamentals of exposure, and the match-needle metering system in the viewfinder keeps things intuitive once you are familiar with it.

Due to the age of this camera and the nature of old light meters we can’t guarantee that the light meter still works. This isn’t an issue as the camera will function perfectly without batteries. To meter a scene before taking a picture we recommend using an external light meter or for you to take our online course that will teach you how to use a film camera without the use of any external tools.
