We like the 400L for being a compact, unpretentious camera from the mid-1970s that is very easy to enjoy. Sold by German retailer Foto-Quelle under the Revue label, it is mechanically identical to the Chinon 35EE and carries a sharp 4-element 38mm f2.8 Revuenon lens in a slim, all-metal body. The CdS meter handles exposure fully automatically in aperture priority, selecting a stepless combination between 1/30s and 1/650s shown by a needle in the viewfinder. Zone focus via pictograms on the lens barrel is quick and intuitive. A simple, reliable, and charming camera that suits street, travel, and everyday photography equally well.
