A simple but useful addition to any Contax G kit. The 1A MC is a skylight filter, which adds a very subtle warmth to daylight shots and reduces the slight blue cast that can appear on film in overcast or open shade conditions. Multi-coated glass keeps flare and reflections to a minimum, so it can be left on the lens permanently without any real impact on image quality. It’s the natural pairing for the 28mm Biogon, 45mm Planar, and 90mm Sonnar, all of which share the 46mm thread, and the titanium finish matches the G series bodies and lenses neatly.

For everyday use, I usually recommend Kodak Gold 200 or Kodak Ultramax 400 as both are super versatile, offer beautiful, rich colours, and are quite forgiving.

If you’re looking for black-and-white film, Ilford XP2 400 is a great option for ease of use and rich exposure latitude. Alternatively, Foma 100 is also great and will give you a bit more contrast and a grainier look.
