No automatic mode. No light meter. Just you, your camera, and the knowledge to use it properly. šŸ˜Ž

A fun, nerdy evening where we talk cameras, light, and everything in between.

Ever looked at your camera and wondered what half the settings actually do? Or shot a roll only to get it back underexposed or with weird colours with no idea why? This workshop is for you.

Come spend an evening at the lab with us. We’ll sit down together, talk through the fundamentals of exposure, and I’ll teach you an awesome method I’ve been using for over ten years to nail a perfectly exposed shot every time, no light meter, no automatic mode, no smartphone. Just you and your camera.

We’ll take you through the fundamentals of exposure, break down exactly what your settings are doing and why, and give you a simple, immediately applicable technique to read light and set your camera with confidence.

Just bring yourself, your camera and something to takes notes on.

What’s included in this course?

  • The basic of exposure and how your camera captures light.
  • How to read light and translate it into the right settings, every time
  • Camera mechanics, controls, and the most common mistakes to avoid.

  • A full Q&A on your specific camera and shooting situations.

Course will mainly be given in English but questions can be asked in French and Dutch if required

*please allow up to one hour extra after the scheduled end of the course

I understand—it can be overwhelming to choose with so many options available.

For everyday use, I usually recommend Kodak Gold 200 or Kodak Ultramax 400 as both are super versatile, offer beautiful, rich colours, and are quite forgiving.

If you’re looking for black-and-white film, Ilford XP2 400 is a great option for ease of use and rich exposure latitude. Alternatively, Foma 100 is also great and will give you a bit more contrast and a grainier look.
