The 50mm f/1.8 FD lens is sharp and fast enough for low light and portrait work, and FD glass is widely available at very reasonable prices if you want to expand later. It is not the most feature-rich Canon SLR, but it does the essentials well and is hard to beat for straightforward, everyday film shooting.
