Released in 1981 and also known as the Super Sure Shot in North America and the Autoboy Super in Japan, it was built around a 40mm f1.9 Canon lens of five elements in five groups, a specification that none of its competitors could match and that gives it a genuine practical advantage in low-light situations. The CCD triangulation autofocus is reliable for most everyday subjects, exposure is fully programmed, and the pop-up flash handles situations where even f1.9 isn't enough. A camera-shake beeper alerts you when the shutter speed is getting dangerously slow, which is a thoughtful practical detail.
