The original EOS-1 was Canon's statement that autofocus had arrived for professional photographers. Introduced in 1989, it was the first professional-grade camera in Canon's EOS system, built for the photographers who had previously relied on the T90 and the New F-1. The body is solidly constructed with basic weather sealing, a 100% coverage viewfinder, and a built-in motor drive running at 2.5 frames per second. The maximum shutter speed of 1/8000s, full range of exposure modes, and compatibility with the entire Canon EF lens range make it a very capable body even today. It's pretty much the Nikon F5 of the Canon Range. Being an EF mount camera, it works with every Canon EF lens ever made, including fast primes and L-series glass, which is great if you already have EF lenses or if you're looking to make a professional kit around it.
