Description
The EOS 3000 is Canon's entry-level EOS from 1999, and it does everything a first SLR needs to do without overcomplicating things. The Canon EF mount is the most important thing about it: it gives you access to one of the largest and most diverse lens systems in 35mm photography, from affordable secondhand primes all the way up to Canon L-series glass, and every EF lens ever made will work on it. The camera itself covers the full range of exposure modes, programme auto, shutter priority, aperture priority, and full manual, along with scene modes and a built-in pop-up flash. The 3-point autofocus with 6-zone evaluative metering handles everyday shooting reliably, and the 1/2000s top shutter speed is useful for fast action or shooting wide open in bright light. A compact, lightweight, and very capable entry point into the EOS system.
