We like the Prima 5 for being one of the thinnest and most pocketable 35mm compacts Canon ever made. Released in 1991 and sold as the Sure Shot Max in North America and Autoboy Mini in Japan, it carries a sharp 38mm f3.5 Canon lens in a body that genuinely slips into a shirt pocket, with the lens retracting almost completely flat when not in use. The 3-point autofocus is reliable for everyday shooting, exposure is fully automatic, and a sliding switch on the front gives you quick control over flash with auto, fill, and off positions, which is a practical and well-placed design touch. There is also a red-eye reduction mode and a self-timer. Simple, light, reliable, and a great everyday companion.
