The Autoreflex T3 has a reputation that goes beyond its modest origins. Introduced in 1973, it sits in a lineage that began with the original Konica Auto-Reflex of 1965, which was the world's first 35mm SLR to offer automatic exposure with through-the-lens metering. The T3 refined that system into a fully mechanical, tank-like body with a vertical-travel metal focal plane shutter, shutter priority automatic exposure, full manual control, depth-of-field preview, and mirror lock-up. It is one of the few cameras of its era robust enough to be trusted by the British Army. The Konica AR lens mount gives access to a range of excellent Hexanon lenses, and the 52mm f1.8 included here is a fast and capable standard lens that produces sharp, characterful images with a lovely rendering at wider apertures. A serious, beautifully built camera that rewards anyone who takes the time to learn it.
