The floating element system automatically corrects for close-focus aberrations across the entire focus range, from infinity all the way down to true 1:1 life-size reproduction, with no extension tubes or additional accessories needed. The 9-element construction in 8 groups, combined with Mamiya's multi-coating, gives excellent contrast and resolution at all distances, and the built-in extending helicoid barrel means the lens is compact at rest and reveals its full capability only when you need it. On a Mamiya 645 body, the 120mm focal length is roughly equivalent to a 75mm on a full-frame camera, sitting comfortably between portrait and macro territory. A lens that earns its place both in the studio and out.
