The Dynax 7 is one of the finest film SLRs Minolta ever made, and it holds its own against anything from Canon or Nikon at the same level. The specification is genuinely impressive: a 1/8000s top shutter speed, 14-segment honeycomb metering alongside centre-weighted and spot, full PASM exposure modes plus three custom memory presets that remember your preferred settings for different shooting situations, continuous shooting at 4 frames per second, and a bulb mode that runs up to 7 hours. The eye-start sensor wakes the camera the moment you raise it to your eye, making it quick and intuitive to use. The extensive custom function menu, accessed through a magnetically latched panel, lets you tailor almost every aspect of how the camera behaves. The Minolta A-mount lens system is large, well-made, and very affordable second hand, and the 28-105mm zoom covers an excellent everyday range from wide group shots to portrait-length telephoto.
