The SRT 101 is where Minolta's reputation for making serious, dependable SLRs was built. Released in 1966, it introduced full-aperture through-the-lens metering and the Contrast Light Compensator system, which used two separate metering cells to balance exposure across bright and dark areas of a scene, something that matrix metering systems in modern cameras still do today. The fully mechanical shutter fires at any speed without any battery, and the all-metal build is exceptional. Paired with the 55mm f1.7 MC Rokkor-PF, a fast, sharp, and very capable standard lens, it is a combination that produces images with real character and depth, particularly wide open where the rendering is smooth and pleasing.

Due to the age of this camera and the nature of old light meters we can’t guarantee that the light meter still works. This isn’t an issue as the camera will function perfectly without batteries. To meter a scene before taking a picture we recommend using an external light meter or for you to take our online course that will teach you how to use a film camera without the use of any external tools.
