Nikon EM 35mm SLR Film Camera with 50mm f1.8 Lens

Description:

The Nikon EM has a lot going for it that is easy to overlook. Introduced in 1979, it was the smallest and lightest SLR Nikon had ever made at the time, with a body designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the Italian car designer also behind the Nikon F3. Despite the compact size and affordable price, it uses the full Nikon F-mount and is compatible with all AI Nikkor lenses, which means you have access to decades of excellent Nikon glass. The exposure system is aperture priority: you set the aperture on the lens, the camera selects the shutter speed, and a needle in the viewfinder shows you what it has chosen. An audible beep warns you when the shutter speed drops below a safe handholding threshold. There is also a mechanical M90 setting at 1/90s that works without batteries, and a -2 stop exposure compensation button for tricky lighting. The 50mm f/1.8 Series E lens paired here is sharp, light, and one of the best value lenses in the Nikon system. A great first SLR or a reliable compact backup body.
