The Nikon F is one of the most important cameras ever made, and the Photomic TN is one of its most capable configurations. It's the camera that defined what a professional SLR could be, built to a standard that was essentially indestructible, with a fully mechanical shutter that runs without any battery at all. The Photomic TN finder introduced centre-weighted metering to the F system, concentrating around 60 percent of its sensitivity on the central area of the frame, which gives you more reliable readings in mixed lighting than the averaged metering of earlier finders. The 50mm f/2 Nikkor is a sharp, characterful lens that pairs beautifully with it. There are no automatic modes here. This is a camera for someone who wants to learn exposure properly or who simply enjoys the deliberate, considered process of setting everything by hand. Every part of it is repairable, every part of it is metal, and it will outlast most things made today.

Battery: No battery required, the camera is fully mechanical. A battery is needed only to power the light meter in the Photomic TN finder. The original mercury cell is discontinued, a modern equivalent or adapter is required (included).
Due to the age of this camera and the nature of old light meters we can't guarantee that the light meter still works. This isn't an issue as the camera will function perfectly without batteries. To meter a scene before taking a picture we recommend using an external light-meter or for you to take our online course that will teach you how to use a film camera without the use of any external tools.
