Description:
The Nikonos RS AF is a camera with an electronically controlled shutter. This means you will need 1x CR-P2 battery to be able to operate the camera.
It uses Nikonos R-UW mount lenses.
The Nikonos RS AF is truly a unique piece of Nikon history. This is the world's first autofocus underwater SLR ever and what a beast. Unlike previous Nikonos cameras that relied on zone focusing to get a sharp image, this camera has actual AF. The resulting camera is a huge beast that feels extremely rugged. It has big buttons that are easy to use, even in SCUBA gear, and offers the possibility of aperture-priority shooting.
Other things we love: the big high-eye point viewfinder that allows you to see both through the lens and the settings while using your goggles (!), DX-coding, matrix metering, 100m depth resistant and the different focus modes, all of which make underwater shooting super easy.
Note that the camera can *only* be used underwater: the water acts as a last optic element to get the image to be sharp. If you use it above water, the image won't be sharp.
This is truly a unique camera made for the most demanding underwater photographers.
