ED stands for Extra-low Dispersion, a technology Nikon borrowed from their professional lenses to reduce colour fringing and keep images sharp across the whole zoom range. That range goes from 38mm all the way to 120mm, which gives you a lot to work with, from wide group shots to compressed portrait framing. The camera itself is compact and light, with fully automatic exposure and a passive autofocus system with 273 steps for precise results. It is a step above the average point and shoot, and a great choice for anyone who wants Nikon quality in something that fits in a coat pocket.
