We like the 35 ECR for being one of the most compact coupled rangefinders Olympus ever made. Introduced in 1972 as a rangefinder version of the 35 EC, it carries the same sharp 5-element E. Zuiko 42mm f2.8 lens in a solid all-metal body that fits comfortably in a coat pocket. The fully programmed automatic exposure handles everything from 4 seconds to 1/800s, one of the widest shutter speed ranges of any compact camera of its era, and the coupled rangefinder gives you precise manual focus without the guesswork of zone focus. A yellow LED warns of low battery and slow shutter speeds, and the camera automatically switches to flash metering mode when a flash is attached to the hot shoe. Simple, precise, and very enjoyable to shoot with.
