We like the 35 RC for packing a genuine coupled rangefinder and proper shutter-priority automatic exposure into one of the smallest 35mm camera bodies of its era. Introduced in 1970, it was at the time one of the most compact rangefinders with automatic exposure control available, and it still impresses today. The E. Zuiko 42mm f2.8 lens is sharp, well-coated, and produces images with real character. In auto mode you set the shutter speed and the camera selects the aperture, and the viewfinder shows you both values so you always know what the camera is doing. If there isn't enough light for a correct exposure, the shutter locks rather than letting you take a bad frame, which is a thoughtful and practical design choice. Full manual override is also available for when you want complete control. The 1/500s maximum shutter speed with full flash sync at any speed is a real practical advantage. A compact, capable, and genuinely rewarding camera that suits both beginners and more experienced photographers alike.
