We like the XA2 for being one of the most pocketable rangefinder-style cameras ever made. Released in 1980 as a more accessible version of the original XA, it keeps the same brilliantly compact clamshell design in a body that genuinely fits in a shirt pocket, with a sliding cover that protects the lens and puts the camera to sleep when closed. The 35mm f3.5 D.Zuiko lens is sharp and produces images with good contrast and a natural field of view. Zone focus via three simple pictograms, close, group, and landscape, is quick and intuitive, and fully automatic exposure handles everything else. This example comes with the original Olympus A11 Electronic Flash unit, which clips neatly onto the side of the camera and is a great practical addition for indoor and low-light shooting.
