The original Espio 115 was a landmark camera when it came out in 1992, offering a motorised 38-115mm zoom in a body that was notably sleeker than the bulkier IQZoom range. It holds up well today. The zoom range covers everything from wide group shots to a proper portrait length at 115mm, and the autofocus with panorama mode and a bulb mode that runs up to 10 minutes gives it more versatility than most cameras at this level. One of its more unusual features is the infrared remote control built into the strap, which lets you trigger the shutter from a distance. The stepped zoom stops at 38, 65, and 115mm, which keeps things quick and deliberate. Automatic exposure, auto flash with red-eye reduction, and DX coding round out a well-considered feature set for an everyday zoom compact.
