We like the SF7 for being a very capable and underrated autofocus SLR. Released in 1988 as Pentax's third autofocus camera, it sits just below the SFX but shares much of its character, with a solid build, a clear rear LCD panel for settings, and a useful set of exposure modes. Programme and shutter priority are available with Pentax F-series lenses, and the camera can also be used with older K-mount glass in aperture priority or manual. There's a built-in retractable flash for low light, and the autofocus is quick and reliable for everyday shooting. Paired with the 28-80mm zoom it becomes a very versatile everyday camera, covering wide scenes at 28mm and flattering portrait framing at 80mm. A well-featured, dependable SLR that's easy to learn on and comfortable to grow with.
