We like the 270 AF for being an underrated and genuinely capable autofocus SLR from Yashica's final generation of film cameras. Released in 1991, it was also sold as the Yashica 230-AF Super in North America, and it brings a full set of exposure modes to a comfortable, well-balanced body with a built-in pop-up flash. Programme, aperture priority, shutter priority, and full manual are all present, exposure compensation runs to plus or minus 2 stops, and there's an AE lock button for tricky lighting situations. The TTL phase-detection autofocus is reliable, and a focus limiter switch lets you restrict the focus range for faster acquisition when the subject distance is roughly known. Paired with the 28-70mm f3.5-4.5 zoom, it covers a genuinely wide range from a broad 28mm wide angle to a comfortable portrait length at 70mm.
