The Electro 35 is a genuine milestone in camera history. Introduced in 1966, it was the world's first camera to use a fully electronic shutter, controlled by what Yashica called the Electronic Brain, a solid-state circuit that selects a stepless shutter speed anywhere from 1/500s down to 30 seconds based on the aperture you set. The Professional is the original all-black version, rarer and more desirable than its chrome siblings. Aperture priority keeps things intuitive, and two Magic Lamp warning lights signal over or underexposure clearly. The 45mm f1.7 Color-Yashinon DX is a sharp, fast, 6-element lens with a lovely rendering that suits portraits, street photography, and low-light shooting equally well. A historically important and very capable rangefinder.
